Berlin's Weirdest Band
Is ROTTT Berlin's weirdest music group?
We don't really know (candidates abound in this city), but The Return of the Think Thing -- short ROTTT -- got the electricity shut off by the organizers a half-hour into their October performance at the Arena, one of Berlin's most popular venues. That happened at an alternative event, no less, the Kunstsalon, a counterweight to the commercial Art Forum. We don't think just any old avant garde group could pull that off, do you?
Apparently the 15 members, including actors, performance artists and video artists, got out of hand on the set _ a set organizers considered too dangerous -- with the musicians erupting with sounds too provocative, or harsh, or well, weird.
ROTT will play February gigs in west Germany and in March at Berlin Alexanderplatz's M12. Check http://www.rottten.info as details firm up or for more music besides the sample below.
